Project of the Week of 01/28/14

Project of the week is a Plastic Peg Manifold made of Natural Acetal. We did aid in the finale design of this part; original part was designed to be injection molded. This part is roughly 3" Dia. X 2-5/8 with 5 O-ring grooves and 5 NPT Ports. This interesting part gets 5 different types of fluid at different temperatures and pressures flowing through it. This is all we can really disclose about this part, we made 75pcs in a span of 1 month.

End Mills and Chamfer Mills were solid carbide from Data Flute CNC with standard High-Speed Drills and NPT taps for the small bores. No special fixturing was required to hold this, but pressure from the vise must be light and verified to avoid distorting the hole locations. Part tolerance except the O-ring grooves is +/- 0.010 and a machine finish with chamfer edges is fine for this part. The 5 bores require an O-ring groove which has a finish of 63 Ra or better for a liquid seal with a +/- 0.003 tolerance. These areas must be checked for deep scratches before and after machining. This project started the week of 01/28/14 but ended sometime in early March. We would like to thank our customers for allowing us to share our projects with people who value the manufacturing talent that is out there...
